21.66 lbs Wins Lions Club Toledo Bend Event
![]() 13 teamed anglers came out to fish in the 10th annual Lions Club event held at Cypress Bend Park on Saturday. The Team of Keith Jenschke and Buddy Rutherford came in straining to carry thier sack of fish that weighed 21.66 lbs Their big fish was a nice 7.99 Kicker that was good enough to take Big Bass of the event. Keith and Buddy said they fished in the Mid Lake area using bomber crank baits in 10 to 14 ft. of water next to creek bends and channel swings. The 2nd Place team of Darold Gleason and Chris Schamerhorne also brought in a nice creel that weighed 20.09 lbs with a nice 7.34 kicker fish that was second in big bass. Darold and Chris said they were in the mid lake area also and they used 10" power worms in 10 to 12 ft grass to catch their fish. Darold said that Chris cought their kicker fish at 11:30 and he cought the 6 pounder two cast later. Chris and Darold would like to thank their sponsors which are Schamerhorne inc,Castaway Rods and Stanley Jigs for their support.
![]() Tournament Weigh Master Ray Cecil of Lousiana Lions Club said this was his tenth year doing this and he hopes to grow the event with the help of participating anglers, Cecil stated the event and the sponsors of the event who donated products throughout the year to be raffeled off helped make the total event a success. The sponsor products and donations help raise more then $58,000.00 dollars that is used to send kids here www.lionscamp.org and this lioneyes.org. Cecil would like to thank Lions Club members that traveled from one end of the state to the other to help make the event one to remember. Cecil said the Lions Club would like to thank, Triton Boats Mercury Outboards and Suzuki for being apart of their year long fund raising partner. The winner of the Triton Mercury boat package raffel was Angela Moore of New Iberia, the package is valued at over $17,000.00 but she got it for a Dollar. The winner of the Suzuki four wheeler was Brent Hensley, the four wheeler is valued at over $8000.00. Next years event is in the works, add this site to your favorits and check it often. The anglers also received a free meal and tackle packs for joining the tournament.
